With the Ankabut bistro table, the joints between the individual mosaic pieces are clearly visible. This is definitely intentional, because the craftsmen had the artfully woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing it. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks as they unfold magnificently in the sky. The diamond edge is completely typical of the mosaic art of the Orient: This religious symbol is said to have a protective function.
This mosaic table shows how well green and blue tones harmonize. Together with some brown and white accents, the mosaic setter composed the Ankabut pattern from tesserae (mosaic stones) in light and dark blue, emerald green and turquoise. The position of the brown Zellije stars creates the impression of looking into the calyxes of densely growing flowers. A nice idea!
